Nude Lip Loves!

Nude Lip Loves!

With Spring here, I'm holding off bold lips and settling for more nude hues. I've picked up some of my go-to's so keep reading to see what made the list!. With my current Monday - Friday schedule, I rarely wear makeup because I gym 4-5 days a week. Sounds intense right?! but I focus mainly on HITT workouts which are a mere 25-30 mins of high Intensity training! plus shunning such a perk ' free access to a platinum gym just under our office building' would be silly!. Days I have meetings, and don't want to look so fresh faced, I ensure my lips make up for it.

So be it in the week or during my weekend 'doll up' sessions, nude lips cut it!

I am currently using my 'white rabbit vegan lip balmfor my base with my choice of lip pencil on top for a slightly creamy feel. I find lip pencils last that much longer!. However, I do love my 'gosh matte antique lippy' over my lip pencils for a long wearing matte look. At times, I opt for a creamy matte gloss but hands down my neutraliser is the ' Mac strip down pencil' no matter what nude I opt for, if I want to tone it down a wee bit, this lip pencil does just that! giving me ease when it comes to playing around with my hues, so this hands down is my fave lip pencil.

NUDE OPTS!

1. Mac 'Strip down' lip pencil.

2. Mac 'Whirl' lip pencil.

3. NYX Soft matte lip cream 'Abu Dhabi'.

4. Gosh velvet touch matte lipstick 'Antique'.

5. Maybelline Vivid matte liquid lipstick' Nude Thrill'.

Tip : Achieving a gorgeous pout starts with the base so daily light lip exfoliation and moisturization goes a long way :)!

Till next time have a blessed weekend!

6 Steps To Healthier Natural Hair!

6 Steps To Healthier Natural Hair!

Kicking off this fresh month with talks on ‘natural hair care’. This is not my routine! I’ll share that with ‘you’z’ in the latter. As per usual, quick story! I’ve been natural for over 5 years give and take. Initially I was hooked into the world of ‘naturalistas’. I big chopped twice! Tired ever brand I watched good reviews on, read blogs, bought more products, Repeat! Repeat! Repeat! I spent so much investing in my hair and Yes! I did see results. I loved the fact my hair was longer, thicker and healthier and in my pursuit of preservation, I got webbed into ‘protective styling’ from wigs, weaves and braids. I did that for a few good years, give little to none TLC to my hair thinking all will be well plus It was super convenient.

It took a long time for me to realise I had only gone and screwed up all hard work. So, last year I was tempted to relax my hair, but my fellow ‘naturalista’s’ forbade me!!

I then decided this year I will give my hair the love it once used to have, that last push to restoration and if all fails! I will be dancing into 2018 with relaxed hair.

With that the below are things I have vowed to do this year and I will update you all on my progress and give a more detailed routine in months to come.

1.      STUDY MY HAIR TYPE!

OK! This doesn’t mean diving and obsessing into vigorous research. I really believe in that mantra of ‘less is more’. Once you know what your hair loves, stick to it!. However, you do need to know and study your hair texture, type, porosity etc before trying out products. Understanding your hair will help you achieve your hair goals.

2.      LOOK AFTER ME!

This is paramount in life, when it comes to your hair factors such as stress, lack of a healthy vitamin and protein based foods, dehydration ( water) play a part in your hair health and as they say:’ Your exterior is a reflection of your interior’ so I have introduced healthy lifestyle changes and so far, so good!

3.      WASH!

I have stopped using shampoo, reverting to natural cleansers only when I feel I have build-ups which is evident in how your hair takes to style manipulations. Some of these include: clay rinses, acv rinses, bicarbonate of soda rinse but only limited to natural opts!

4.       DETANGLING!

Right! so I know there’s a ton of friendly detangling options we naturalista’s love from the famous ‘Denman brush’ to wide tooth combs but I have scratched all these using only my fingers to detangle my hair be it before or after my wash regime! Even now with my crotchet braids in, I only used a comb to part the cornrows but the rest was left to my fingers, starting from the ends to root!

5.      CONDITIONING!

This is my favourite thing when it comes to hair care. I have gone back to basics        incorporating more natural opts! This was a tricky one as some leave-ins, conditioners, and deep conditioners despite being somewhat not natural are unrivalled, so I refuse to ditch some of my fave products but rather mix them up more with natural DIY’s.

6.      SCALP CARE!

The therapeutic part of this all. I used to always grease my scalp, especially if I had a headache but days later my scalp would start itching like crazy! So, I decided to rather go for a water based solution which makes a massive difference. I now DIY my scalp hydrators with only natural & essential oils, conditioners or natural tea mixes. I also ensure I make time as frequently as possible to just massage my scalp stimulating blood flow, lubricating my scalp and sebum production which relaxes my scalp and aids hair growth! Truth is your scalp doesn't need greasing as it produces its own oils but for some greasing your scalp is a necessity for scalp treatments which I would say still do.

I have been doing this since January and noticed a difference in just 2 months, even my nephew was like; ‘Aunty your hair looks nice’ and coming from a kid you know there’s truth in it!.  I currently have crotchet braids in but after a few more weeks I will let my hair breathe and get some TLC for a good month before anything else. My aim is to leave my hair out more and look after it more. Let me know if there is anything you have changed in your hair regime that you find has been amazing!

Birthday Shenanigans!

Birthday Shenanigans!

Last week was nothing short of amazing and with my birthday shenanigans over and out, I wanted to share with ‘ you’z’  what I got up to!. From my last post I’m sure you all gathered I’m a big fan of celebrating life joys as a whole. This year I wanted something relaxing,  a prayer answered thanks to Sunny @ ‘book your lifestyle’  who booked me in for some Individual Lash Extensions at ‘Belle-Cour Beauty Salon’ in Westminster.

Sceptical to begin as I heard Individual Lash Extensions can at times rip your natural lashes and the type of lash and glue brand can mess your eyes up especially if you're allergic plus when it comes to your you have to be super careful. Fast forward! I did my research, and with great reviews saying my doubts,  I arranged my booking and spent that morning on my back getting these beauties put in.

I would advise booking a 1hr & 30 mins session in order to get the best look if you are thinking natural. The salon was nice and clean and the staff were really friendly making the whole experience great! I then headed over to West End to get a few bits then went back for a manicure and pedicure. I keep hearing about S’N’S nails so had to try it!.  It’s almost been a week and I’m addicted.  I love that it’s done on your natural nails and they don’t file off layers which leave that natural thickness on the finger nail.

I will keep dong this for the next few months saving me having to paint my nails every few days. Chipped nails drive me nuts and as I woman I think its nice to have them looking good ,even if its not polished, they could be neatly filed down with clear varnish. I am so late to the this ‘nail party’ but hey!.

I then concluded my bday with dinner at ‘ Inamo’ , James booked this ages ago and despite me not wanting to go I felt bad so got dressed. This place is so cool, they serve pan-Asian cuisine with a unique interactive table surface technology. You could Play games, watch chef-cam, even draw on your table! James had my pictures sent to them prior, so as soon as I walked in, I spotted our table. The food was yummy !! So worth that train commute. Overall I had such a lovely day!

Valentines - Glitter Lips!

Valentines - Glitter Lips!

When you think 'Valentine's Day', you think red, when you think red, you think love, which brings us back to today's share. I have always rooted for a red lip, especially with minimal makeup not void of winged liner. To me it screams fun, flirty, and elegant not forgetting the fact it makes you feels glamorous, even when you aren't wearing any makeup or fancy clad! Crazy right?!

With Val's day a sleep away I wanted to jazz my red pout with some glitter. Not so practical when it comes to eating, but heck!...  For more wear, I used my NYX matte lip cream and dabbed on a generous amount of glitter. I actually wanted to do this look over the festive break but evidently that never happened. However, I will start doing more beauty and skincare posts with easily accessible products for you all. Ohh! Before I sign off, I hope you all have a love filled day whether or not you have that special somebody remember, 'Be content in your current state and make the most of it'!.

How To Wear Statement Earrings!

How To Wear Statement Earrings!

Am I the only one slightly obsessing over statement earrings?! There’s something so sophisticated and luxurious about them. I love the fact they give off a sleek minimal feel- enough to catch your eye! So if you are thinking of jazzing up your basics, such pieces do just that!

Tip: Big long earrings draw attention to the space between your jawline and your shoulders which is quite flattering, especially when your hair is flicked/ tucked behind your ear.
