Nude Lip Loves!

With Spring here, I'm holding off bold lips and settling for more nude hues. I've picked up some of my go-to's so keep reading to see what made the list!. With my current Monday - Friday schedule, I rarely wear makeup because I gym 4-5 days a week. Sounds intense right?! but I focus mainly on HITT workouts which are a mere 25-30 mins of high Intensity training! plus shunning such a perk ' free access to a platinum gym just under our office building' would be silly!. Days I have meetings, and don't want to look so fresh faced, I ensure my lips make up for it.

So be it in the week or during my weekend 'doll up' sessions, nude lips cut it!

I am currently using my 'white rabbit vegan lip balmfor my base with my choice of lip pencil on top for a slightly creamy feel. I find lip pencils last that much longer!. However, I do love my 'gosh matte antique lippy' over my lip pencils for a long wearing matte look. At times, I opt for a creamy matte gloss but hands down my neutraliser is the ' Mac strip down pencil' no matter what nude I opt for, if I want to tone it down a wee bit, this lip pencil does just that! giving me ease when it comes to playing around with my hues, so this hands down is my fave lip pencil.

Tip : Achieving a gorgeous pout starts with the base so daily light lip exfoliation and moisturization goes a long way :)!

Hello my lovelies. I hope April has been good to you thus far!. We’re almost half way through the month and  1st quarter of 2017. Time really does fly, and I feel I haven’t reached all my goals which is a bit of a damper. However, on a brighter note, the sun is making more frequent appearances here in London which brings a shift to my outfit picks. I’m such a fan of all things white especially during Spring/Summer!, so to play it up a tad I tend to go for detailing, shapes and cuts.

6 Steps To Healthier Natural Hair!

Kicking off this fresh month with talks on ‘natural hair care’. This is not my routine! I’ll share that with ‘you’z’ in the latter. As per usual, quick story! I’ve been natural for over 5 years give and take. Initially I was hooked into the world of ‘naturalistas’. I big chopped twice! Tired ever brand I watched good reviews on, read blogs, bought more products, Repeat! Repeat! Repeat! I spent so much investing in my hair and Yes! I did see results. I loved the fact my hair was longer, thicker and healthier and in my pursuit of preservation, I got webbed into ‘protective styling’ from wigs, weaves and braids. I did that for a few good years, give little to none TLC to my hair thinking all will be well plus It was super convenient.

It took a long time for me to realise I had only gone and screwed up all hard work. So, last year I was tempted to relax my hair, but my fellow ‘naturalista’s’ forbade me!! 

I then decided this year I will give my hair the love it once used to have, that last push to restoration and if all fails! I will be dancing into 2018 with relaxed hair.

With that the below are things I have vowed to do this year and I will update you all on my progress and give a more detailed routine in months to come.

 

1.      STUDY MY HAIR TYPE!

OK! This doesn’t mean diving and obsessing into vigorous research. I really believe in that mantra of ‘less is more’. Once you know what your hair loves, stick to it!. However, you do need to know and study your hair texture, type, porosity etc before trying out products. Understanding your hair will help you achieve your hair goals.

 

2.      LOOK AFTER ME!

This is paramount in life, when it comes to your hair factors such as stress, lack of a healthy vitamin and protein based foods, dehydration ( water) play a part in your hair health and as they say:’ Your exterior is a reflection of your interior’ so I have introduced healthy lifestyle changes and so far, so good!

 

3.      WASH!

I have stopped using shampoo, reverting to natural cleansers only when I feel I have build-ups which is evident in how your hair takes to style manipulations. Some of these include: clay rinses, acv rinses, bicarbonate of soda rinse but only limited to natural opts!

 

4.       DETANGLING!

Right! so I know there’s a ton of friendly detangling options we naturalista’s love from the famous ‘Denman brush’ to wide tooth combs but I have scratched all these using only my fingers to detangle my hair be it before or after my wash regime! Even now with my crotchet braids in, I only used a comb to part the cornrows but the rest was left to my fingers, starting from the ends to root!

 

5.      CONDITIONING!

This is my favourite thing when it comes to hair care. I have gone back to basics        incorporating more natural opts! This was a tricky one as some leave-ins, conditioners, and deep conditioners despite being somewhat not natural are unrivalled, so I refuse to ditch some of my fave products but rather mix them up more with natural DIY’s.

 

6.      SCALP CARE!

The therapeutic part of this all. I used to always grease my scalp, especially if I had a headache but days later my scalp would start itching like crazy! So, I decided to rather go for a water based solution which makes a massive difference. I now DIY my scalp hydrators with only natural & essential oils, conditioners or natural tea mixes. I also ensure I make time as frequently as possible to just massage my scalp stimulating blood flow, lubricating my scalp and sebum production which relaxes my scalp and aids hair growth! Truth is your scalp doesn't need greasing as it produces its own oils but for some greasing your scalp is a necessity for scalp treatments which I would say still do. 

I have been doing this since January and noticed a difference in just 2 months, even my nephew was like; ‘Aunty your hair looks nice’ and coming from a kid you know there’s truth in it!.  I currently have crotchet braids in but after a few more weeks I will let my hair breathe and get some TLC for a good month before anything else. My aim is to leave my hair out more and look after it more. Let me know if there is anything you have changed in your hair regime that you find has been amazing!

Birthday Shenanigans!

Last week was nothing short of amazing and with my birthday shenanigans over and out, I wanted to share with ‘ you’z’  what I got up to!. From my last post I’m sure you all gathered I’m a big fan of celebrating life joys as a whole. This year I wanted something relaxing,  a prayer answered thanks to Sunny @ ‘book your lifestyle’  who booked me in for some Individual Lash Extensions at ‘Belle-Cour Beauty Salon’ in Westminster.

Sceptical to begin as I heard Individual Lash Extensions can at times rip your natural lashes and the type of lash and glue brand can mess your eyes up especially if you're allergic plus when it comes to your you have to be super careful. Fast forward! I did my research, and with great reviews saying my doubts,  I arranged my booking and spent that morning on my back getting these beauties put in.

I would advise booking a 1hr & 30 mins session in order to get the best look if you are thinking natural. The salon was nice and clean and the staff were really friendly making the whole experience great! I then headed over to West End to get a few bits then went back for a manicure and pedicure. I keep hearing about S’N’S nails so had to try it!.  It’s almost been a week and I’m addicted.  I love that it’s done on your natural nails and they don’t file off layers which leave that natural thickness on the finger nail.

I will keep dong this for the next few months saving me having to paint my nails every few days. Chipped nails drive me nuts and as I woman I think its nice to have them looking good ,even if its not polished, they could be neatly filed down with clear varnish. I am so late to the this ‘nail party’ but hey!.

I then concluded my bday with dinner at ‘ Inamo’ , James booked this ages ago and despite me not wanting to go I felt bad so got dressed. This place is so cool, they serve pan-Asian cuisine with a unique interactive table surface technology. You could Play games, watch chef-cam, even draw on your table! James had my pictures sent to them prior, so as soon as I walked in, I spotted our table. The food was yummy !! So worth that train commute. Overall I had such a lovely day!

It's that time again!..13th of March!..'My birthday !:). So help me wish a 'HAPPYYYY BIRTHDAYYY TO ME!!! and all those sharing this day with ME'!.

Quick heart share for you all, see I've always been a fan of celebrating birthdays and life occasions in general. To me it's not about those grand parties, elaborate holidays, shopping sprees and all those others things society portray as qualifiers. Let that NOT be misconstrued. If you can afford it, and that's what makes you happy, content and whatnot, why the heck not! and trust me at times I like doing it big within my grasp!. My point is,  it's not about the big gestures so if you cannot afford to splash out please don't let comparison rob you of celebrating life.

Growing up my Mummy and Daddy always ensured we celebrated life moments not just birthdays. Times we never had much they would still make an effort to ensure I felt those showers of love. Some years I had what I called 'amazing birthdays' and some not so much because it wasn't my ideal, I wanted grand, but even if I didn't get it, we always still did something small and thought filled, be it my mum cooking my fave meal, and baking a small cake, a trip to 'Splash' ( kenya's Alton towers, don't even know if it still exists!) ,but looking back there was always a level of consistency in celebrating my birthday and no year lacked showers of love. Wether on not we had money that year, they always found a way of making memories, and for that I am forever grateful and will follow that through with my little ones :) One Day!

There are so many ways of celebrating, If you followed my last 2 bday antics you will notice I tend to find a theme, so last year was more 'Family' so spent it dinning and hanging with them, the year before I felt it was more about 'Giving back' so I made goody bags for the homeless, made my girls buy Red Nose Day tees, we got on the tour of London by night then after went around blessing those in need. This year It's all about 'calmness' so opting to have a relaxing one.

With that said before I embark on my day, I want to share 5 things I've learnt and is applying this year from my faith perspective, y'all know that I am a Christian Right?! :). Hand on heart these things have transformed my life readying me for this new chapter, so I pray it blesses you wether you are a believer or not. 

1. Revisit Goals.

I am so big on planning and writing things down,' order' I call it. I don't always like going with the flow. But as I wake or prep for the day before, really submitting my plans to God in prayer and asking for direction has a beautiful way of making it all work out for my God. Suddenly, what seems a priority is no longer, or that which was dire sorts itself out with ease! I love it, yet another of God's promises coming to life :).  Proverbs 16:3 'Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans'.

2. Everything 'TO BE' is in you.

This always blows my mind away, before we were formed God knew us, before we came to being he already had our end. Sadly like the children of Israel we can go on the path that takes us longer to get to the promised land. We desire better, dream of better, get frustrated at stagnation and so much more but we have to let this reign deep inside of us, the fact everything we are to be is already in us. We are equipped by him, equipped to live on this earth and know our maker, live out our destiny and be glorious vessels. From the beginning  he breathed a part of himself into you! his spirit is in you, the dreams and visions he has given you- with him in you, you can accomplish it!. He will never give you more than you can handle nor will he give you a dream without the tools to carry it through. We really need to tap more into him, listen, and spend time with him. We only see so far, so why not trust and let the one that see past it all  guide you to that perfect end?! Think about it, the creator of the universe, so mighty and glorious in deity lives in you, his spirit is in you so imagine what you can do. LOOK at all Jesus did, once the spirit of God was manifested in him, his short life amounted to so much so I urge you/ me to keep looking to the source, staying routed to the source and contend In deed and prayer for his spirit to be manifested in your lives. Psalms 18:29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

3. Accept and adapt to change.

Extremely challenging but absolutely necessary. You notice all those that succeed adapt well to change, be it economical, spiritual or physical. There is nothing static in this life, and the harsh reality is ' the future doesn't belong to the strong but those best adaptable to change'. That is why we see dinosaurs are dead yet ants are still alive and classed as one of the wisest animals around, even snakes ( study their survival traits).

Proverbs 6:7 -Go to the ant, O sluggard,  Observe her ways and be wise, Which, having no chief, Prepares her food in the summer And gathers her provision in the harvest.

How you deal and process situations determine your altitude in life. As we all hear ' Plan to fail, fail to plan'. So I believe we have to put the ground work in, wether or not you are trying to sort your finances, plan for the future, or deal with life's HAPPENSTANCES! Be aware of the times, the reality,  acquire and apply knowledge, and above all be positive. Adapting WELL is really a matter of the heart, because what starts inside will flow outside. RENEW AND CHANGE YOUR MIND , protecting what is happening in your heart! 

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

4. Righteous Anger

Never be afraid of fighting, but you have to pick your battles with wisdom. At times you can find a certain person is forever on your case, plotting for your end, you find the same stumbling blocks, hinderances, or even traits you cannot shake-off years on. This is where righteous anger comes in because when you understand there is a spiritual realm and spirituals fights going on, you learn you don't  always have to fight with your fists but on your knees with the words of God in utterance. Guys! we have to know who we are in Christ, his promises for us,  and have that unshakeable confidence. We cannot allow ourselves to be intimated by 'pharaohs' forgetting your life is in the hands of your maker, your being and identity is in him too. You don't need the accolades of man. This also means we need to also stand for our faith , be bold in sharing christ, you have found something so priceless, ' The cure' so don't be selfish.!

Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world--like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

Do not let people intimidate you or mock God in-front of you , I love how David took on the philistine king :-

1 Samuel 17:26 Then David spoke to the men who were standing by him, saying, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God?"

5. Serve and Gratitude. 

This is literally one of my life mantras. The more you focus on yourself and your problems, the bigger they seem. Rather set out daily to be a blessing to someone else, be someones smile, someones shoulder/ ear just be there, and as you do this watch how God In turn blesses you. It doesn't mean you do to get! but rather delight in serving others, have an attitude of gratitude.  99% of the times you will find your problem is actually not as bad as another's and again this is also a matter of the heart, be content in your seasons, look and focus on the good, no body's got time for depression and all that. Seriously! don't take yourself into such dark places. Focus on being a blessing and rejoice in your seasons be it good or bad!

1 Thessalonians 5:18- Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
